Week4 of competition, Sat 14th October 23-24

Week4 of competition, Sat 14th October 23-24

Saturday  14th October Week4  of competition season 2023-2024

Competition Week 4 and what an awesome week of results its was.  Athletes achieved an amazing 173 Personal Bests and this week it was the multi class athletes that were breaking records, well done.  Our member numbers have landed at about 225 members which is a great effort.  It would be great to get a few more athletes, so please make sure you spread the word and bring a friend, trials are still available.  The coming weeks will be about relays, relays and relays so if you haven’t already, please express your interest either by signing up on Saturday or reaching out to the relay age group managers.  Relays are lots of fun, with Box Hill as the teaser, quickly followed by Eastern Region Relays at Yarra Ranges and then State relays in December.  Its going to be a busy few months leading into Christmas, so please make sure you are reading all the information.  See you all at the track on Saturday for Week 5 of competition.

Relays for U9 and up are coming – fast …

Relays will be here before you know it so make sure you get a team organised and sign up this Saturday.  Each team will need an age group manager for each boy\girl team.  Parents we need your help as we also need two Ringwood Relay Team Managers, otherwise Ringwood cannot participate.  It’s not hard so if you are thinking about it, give it a go.  Have a chat with Brooke our friendly announcer this Saturday or any of our other friendly committee.  Remember, this is no extra cost to you!

Uniforms and Patches

All paid up athletes must wear their uniforms to Saturday competition.  If you need a new top, the uniform shop will be open on Saturday in the pavilion for part of the morning, so make sure you get a Ringwood top.  Also, black shorts or  black leggings can be worn, preferably without any logos.  Don’t forget your CommBank and Coles patches.  Uniforms are mandatory and will especially be required at Region and State events, so get into the habit now.

Athletes that require a re-print of their patch need to provide a gold coin donation that goes to the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Competition day Volunteering – we need your help – Sign up here

Every week we need lots of help to make sure all the events can run, we are setup and packed up and our bbq is running.  Thanks to all that have helped out so far, but we always need parent volunteers.  Remember, the more parents that help out, the more efficiently everything can run.  This week is hurdle week so we definitely need our setup crew nice and early at the track.  Give a duty a go, its fun and all simple and if you are not sure what to do, ask.  We are all more than happy to help.

This season we have started monitoring duties to make sure its spread equally.  If there are repeat “duty dodgers” we will start to allocate duties to you.  My advice, sign up and have some fun!!

Non committee roles

Do you enjoy creating website\social media content, taking photos, writing grant applications, coaching, administration? There are lots of ways you can volunteer your time at little athletics and there are non-competition and\or non-committee roles we always need help with.  Please reach out to express your interest at and we can allocate you a role that may excite you or if you need some experience, little athletics could be a great place to start something new and different.

Website information –

Do you want to learn more about competition days, where Pit 1a is and which end is the Cadbury end?

Have a look at this link on our website that shows where everything is at the track and how a normal competition day is run:

The website also has lots more information on uniforms, coaches, training and lots more information.  Check it out, it will answer a lot of your questions.

Twilight competition

Twilight competitions are scheduled during the week and usually start from 5pm(ish) and we usually schedule these when there is a public holiday.  Guess what !!! The Cup day long weekend is approaching, so instead of having competition on Saturday 4th November, we will be running a twilight on Wednesday 1st November, so save the date.  Note its already scheduled on our calendar

We will usually adjust the program to be a little less intense, to make sure we are not at the track too late.  It will be a great competition under the big lights.

Questions – ideas – want to whinge – have a complaint

Yes there is a lot of information, but if you still have questions, ideas or what to whinge about something, please reach out at

Looking forward to seeing you at the track,
