Week 3 of competition Saturday 7th Oct 23-24

Week 3 of competition Saturday 7th Oct 23-24

Saturday 7th October Week3 of competition season 2023-2024

Competition Week 3 and what a blast it was.  Athletes achieved an amazing 110 Personal Bests and Arianna DiMartino  keeps breaking that 100m record, well done.  It was great to see so many trial athletes giving athletics a go and we hope that you continue your athletics career at Ringwood Little Athletics Centre.  Feel free to reach out to a committee member and ask anything you would like to know.  There will be lots of information and news coming up, so make sure you are connected to our socials.  Remember if you are new and a bit lost, reach out to a friendly committee member on Saturday and ask your questions, or send us an email at Ringwood@lavic.com.au.

Relays for U9 and up are coming – fast …

Relays will be here before you know it so make sure you get a team organised and sign up this Saturday.  Each team will need an age group manager for each boy\girl team.  Parents we need your help as we also need two Ringwood Relay Team Managers, otherwise Ringwood cannot participate.  Its not hard so if you are thinking about it, give it a go.  Have a chat with Brooke our friendly announcer this Saturday or any of our other friendly committee.  Remember, this is no extra cost to you!

Uniforms and Patches

All paid up athletes must wear their uniforms to Saturday competition.  If you need a new top, the uniform shop will be open on Saturday in the pavilion.  Also, black shorts or  black leggings can be worn, preferably without any logos.  Don’t forget your patches.  Athletes that require a re-print of their patch need to provide a gold coin donation that goes to the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Volunteering – we need your help – Sign up here

As we are well into the season, I thank the parents that have put their hand up, giving duties a go, hope you are having fun.  But we need help to make sure it all runs smoothly, including setup and packup.  Each week we need to allocate many duties and if you sign up early, you can almost pick your preference.

This season we have started monitoring duties to make sure its spread equally.  If there are repeat “duty dodgers” we will start to allocate duties to you.  My advice, sign up and have some fun!!

Track weekly Setup & Pack up

Each week an age group has been scheduled to assist with track setup usually from 8am.  Setup that’s completed before the start of the day  is very important so the day and program flows well.  Packing up is important as well so please before you leave, look around and offer a hand – more hands make light work!!  Refer to our calendar of events to see when your help is needed,

Competition day safety – Parents and athletes do not walk across the infield.  Parents you cannot follow your child around events, you must remain behind the bollards or around the grandstand areas, unless you have signed up to a duty.  Also, please make sure athletes do not wander onto the track, always check for running athletes.  These rules are in place for you and your athlete’s safety.

Get active kids

Doing it tough financially?  Round 7 applications for the Get Active Kids Voucher Program are open and will be accepted until allocation exhausted, so get in quick.  Families will need to consider their eligibility for the Program and can apply for a voucher via the following link https://www.getactive.vic.gov.au/vouchers/apply-for-vouchers/
