Saturday 28th October 2023-2024 – Wrap Up

Saturday 28th October 2023-2024 – Wrap Up

Competition Week 6 and the results keep getting better. A massive 178 Personal Bests (PB’s) were achieved by our athletes, keep up the good work. We had our most number of athletes participate on the weekend; 192; and apart from a few hiccups, the events ran to schedule. There were three centre records this week with Lachlan Buyck setting the U17B Javelin, Emma Fabre setting the U17G Javelin and Maddie Payne setting the U17G Shot Put. Well done to those athletes, now you have to break these records!

We are in the middle of a mini break with our first Wednesday night twilight, then we all get the long weekend off.

During this time training will be cancelled in its normal form, but we encourage focus on relay training during this time.  Next competition day then will be Nov 11th followed by Box Hill relays.  Remember, the more practice with the baton, the better the racing.  Enjoy your relay practice and see you on Wednesday 1st November, our first twilight competition.

We have officially submitted EMR relay teams so now we move on to Box Hill relay submissions.  These are due at the end of the week. Box Hill relays are lots of fun and good practice for EMR relays.

Due to competition being on Wednesday this week and unavailability of coaching staff, training this Tuesday is cancelled.  This time should be used to focus on relay training, so I encourage all of you to practice relay training.  Note that Sunday and next Tuesday (cup day) event training is also cancelled, but again, use this time to focus on relays.  Middle distance training continues on Monday and Wednesday from 4.30 (U9 and up).  We will advise of any changes to this schedule, so keep a lookout on our socials.

Uniforms and Patches
Its very important that athletes wear their Ringwood centre tops and black shorts to Saturday competition and your coles and commbank patches. You can purchase a top at our uniform shop which is open competition days.  Uniform adherence is very strict at EMR relays so make sure you have the right uniform.

Volunteering – we need your help – Sign up here

Thanks to all parents that have helped our so far.  Because of your help, we can get through our events quicker and the bbq keeps everyone fed!  This Wednesday will be challenging so again please sign up for a duty.  If we don’t get helpers, we can not run events on the day.

This Wednesday, dress up in your best spooooooky outift.  Remember to make sure you can still participate in events!!

Athlete Behaviour
A number of parents have observed and provided feedback of some unruly athlete behaviour during competition.  Parents, please advise your athletes that there is a code of conduct they must follow, including appropriate conduct, respect for others and being kind to each other.  Athletes must at no time threaten other athletes or physically inflict pain to other athletes.  This behaviour will not be tolerated and athletes will be asked to either not compete in an event, or in a worst case scenario, not be allowed to participate in competition.  Also a reminder that Belinda Jones is our current Child Safety Officer and any issues that cannot be resolved or need escalation, should be brought to her attention, or in her absence please feel free to approach me.
