After having the 2020 Cross Country season cancelled completely it was great to start the 2021
season on time on the weekend of the 17/18 th April.
We had Ringwood athletes competing in both the Saturday Knox competition and the Sunday Eastern 7’s competition. We had 47 athletes compete during the season, and out of this we had several new members.
Lockdown 5 stopped the competition for 2 weekends and caused the State Cross Country Relay Carnival to be postponed. Then we went into lockdown 6 which ended our season. It was so disappointing as we had been able to field 7 teams for the Relay carnival. However, there was a silver lining, between the lockdown we were able to host an event at Ringwood for the first time in over a decade.
The Ringwood course had it all; hills, mud and water but the weather was perfect, and the sun was shining. We had a great turn out on the day with over 100 athletes competing. A big thank you goes out to all the parents that helped with either being a course marshal, BBQ cook, timing official, starter or Hare. A huge thank you to our Ringwood athletes who not only ran their own race but were then tortoises for the younger age groups.
