Hi everyone, what another great week of athletics.  On Saturday we had an amazing region relay carnival at Yarra Ranges and our athletes performed very well.  Those batons remained firmly in all athletes hands!! We had our first Sunday afternoon competition day which was well received, specifically by the young athletes who turned out in great numbers.  And Race Walks are back!! We were lucky enough to have Fran Attard from Knox and Di Lowden an Australian Walks Judge on had to help.

As we are approaching Christmas very quickly, there are three more Saturday competitions remaining.  Our Christmas break up is scheduled on Wednesday 13th December, which will include our Ringwood Gift, from about 5:30pm and a visit from santa.  Saturday 16th December is State Relays and then we break until our 4 pillars event January 14th.

Region and State Relay progression

To all athletes that participated at Region relays, well done and I hope you enjoyed the team competition.  Approximately 30 teams have made it through to State Relays which is a great number for our club.  Congratulations to those athletes.  More information on next steps will be emailed to you shortly.  I would encourage those teams to keep practicing!!

School Sports Victoria – National Championships

We congratulate Reece Trewhella, Arianna Dimartino and Jacob Dixon who are competing at School Sports Victoria National Championships in Tassie.  Good Luck, perform you personal best and have fun.

Ringwood 100m Gift and Christmas event – Wednesday Dec 13th Twilight

What is the Ringwood 100m Gift?  The Ringwood 100m Gift is a fun event, where Each athlete is given a mark, or handicap, based on their ability.  This gives them an equal opportunity to win the 100m, when they normally wouldn’t,  There are a number of heats and eventually a final for Boys and Girls and at the conclusion we announce a boy and girl winner.

As part of our Christmas celebration, the Gift will be our special even followed up with a Christmas raffle and a visit from Santa.

4 pillars – what is it?

4 pillars is an athletics event scheduled on 14th January, 2024, hosted by Ringwood.  The 4 pillars are made up of 4 centres in our region, these are Ringwood, Nunawading, Doncaster and Box Hill and the objective was to have a combined event rotated across the centres.  Because there are families that are still away across these centres, the numbers were too low to run competition days at individual centres, so an “alliance” between these 4 centres was formed.  The program of the 4 pillars also replicates the State combined events, to give those athletes a good practice run before the real event.  More information will come soon regarding event selection, so look out for that.

Don’t forget event training is back on this Sunday again from 9am, see you there!!

Severe weather warning

The forecast for Saturday looks a but unsettled, the morning is looking ok.  In the event we decide to cancel competition prior to it starting we will send out communications across our social channels.  We will monitor conditions throughout the morning for any signs of sever weather.

As always, see you at the track,
