Hi everyone, last Saturday was a blast with our Boost Health Collective Ringwood Gift. You have to admit that the handicaps this year saw lots of close finishes, with the winner of the Boys = Ethan Carey (U14) and winner of the Girls = Mali Lane (U8).
This week we have Program B. No alterations, no frills, just a straight competition week. There are only 2 weeks of competition remaining before our centre games. For those of you that have not attended many competitions, I would encourage you to compete in as many events as possible in the final 2 weeks to make sure you are eligible to compete in your event at Centre Games. I will be in touch with those athletes that have currently not met the eligibility criteria to compete in an event in the coming days.
This week we have Javelin for U11-U16s, so warm up is at 8:15am and 8:30am start, sharp.
Duties this week are aligned to Centre Games to get you ready for the change in format. The events are grouped, start times only for each event and only a list of each group for each block of duties. Don’t forget to sign up for a duty here, we need you:
Things to know – Information Hub
Did you know there are only 2 competition days left of the 2022-2023 summer T&F and we conclude on 18th March with our Boost Health Collective Centre Games.
Centre Games – Registrations closed – Eligibility being verified– I am currently checking eligibility and will be in touch if your athlete is not eligible to compete in a selected event, or at all. Remember we require at least participation in 5 weeks of competition and 50% attendance since your registration date and an athlete must have competed in an event at Ringwood Centre at least once to enter in that event for Centre Games. The next two weeks will cover most of the events, so make sure you compete in all the events to be eligible.
SAFETY Announcements – Please be aware of the following at competition and training:
- Never stand inside the discus nets or sector area while athletes are throwing;
- Never walk across the infield;
- Always wear closed toed shoes at the track, so no thongs;
- Do not lean on the Fencing at the 100m start line.
Boost twilight – 10th March – This is our one and only Friday twilight. Come along for an evening of athletics under the lights and this will be our last competition before Centre Games.
State Track and Field 11\12th March – Hopefully you would have seen the state progression athlete list. Ringwood has 40 athletes competing at state, well done champs.
Ringwood Centre Games 18th March 2023 8am-4pm – It will be all day – Save the date
Centre Games Championship is our last competition day. I am currently checking eligibility and starting the programming for this major event.
AGM and awards presentation day – Currently this is pencilled in for Saturday 1st April (not a joke) from 10am -12pm. More information to come.
Cross Country – coming soon!
As part of your membership, you can compete in the cross country events during the cooler months on Sunday mornings from about 9am-10.30am. There is also a Saturday session hosted by our friends at Knox, if you can’t make Sundays. This is a great way for athletes to keep fit and connected to each other in the “down time”. Team Manager needed – We need someone to assist Belinda this cross-country season. Its very easy and non-time consuming. Please email email@example.com. to express your interest.
Have a question? Have a suggestion? Want to whinge? For any queries feel free to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
See you at the track,
Jason (RLAC President)
