President’s Corner 23-02-2023

Hi everyone, our Ringwood athletes are amazing! Last week we had our U6-U8 carnival at home and 62 of our 83 athletes participated and they achieved 88 PBs.

EMR T&F at Doncaster was lots of fun. We had 85 athletes compete and they achieved 31 Gold, 31 Silver and 20 Bronze and 9 Ringwood Best Performances (RBPs)were recorded.

Congratulations to Nate Sandhu (U10B) who scissored his way to a height of 1.30m, which is an equal Victorian Best Performance.  Thanks also to our team managers Brooke and Lynne and all of our officials and parents that volunteered their time and were part of a successful event.  Today LAVIC has released State qualifier results and 41 Ringwood athletes have qualified, well done.

For those athletes that were not there, I would encourage you to give it a go next year.

Ringwood Best Performance

This week we have our Ringwood Gift.

What is that? Essentially, we take your athletes 100 and 70m times, work out a handicap position (marker) and line the athletes up on the front straight to race from their marker.  There are heats, and winners of heats will progress to Semis, where we mix all age groups together (but split gender).  After the Semi’s, finalists are determined and then there are two finals races to determine a girl and boy winner.  Simple.  With that in mind, we had to reshape the program, so we are running a slightly modified Program C.  We will revert back to normal competition and Program B next week.

This week we have Javelin for U11-U16s, so warm up is at 8am, with an 8:15am start, sharp.  We have a tight program this week because of the Gift, so please be on time and please be patient.  Make sure to stay around until the end to see the finals.

Don’t forget to sign up for a duty here

Bring a Gold coin to purchase your athletes’ marker (starting position).

This goes to the RCH GFA.

Ringwood Centre Games 18th March 2023 8am-4pm – It will be all day – Save the date

Centre Games Championship is our last competition day.  The format will remain the same as last year where athletes can select any number of events, depending on their age group.  It usually runs longer than our normal competition day, so we ask that parents save the date now.  Entry forms are out and to be completed no later than Sunday 26th Feb at 11.59pm..  Centre Games is free to all eligible and financial members.

BOOST Health Collective – Our major sponsor BOOST will be at the track this Saturday, so bring your “ailments” and they will massage and tape them up!!

AGM and awards presentation day – Currently this is pencilled in for Saturday 1st April (not a joke) from 10am -12pm.  More information to come.

Cross Country – coming soon

As part of your membership,  you can compete in the cross country events during the cooler months on Sunday mornings from about 9am-10.30am.  There is also a Saturday session hosted by our friends at Knox, if you can’t make Sundays.  This is a great way for athletes to keep fit and connected to each other in the “down time”.   Team Manager needed – We need someone to assist Belinda this cross-country season.  Its very easy and non-time consuming.  Please email express your interest.
