Hi everyone, another great week of athletics with our largest attendance to date with 184 athletes competing. They achieved 188 PBs and there were 4 Centre Records achieved, amazing. We also raised a lot of money for the Royal Children’s Hospital. We wont disclose the amount yet as there are more donations to come. Thanks to all that contributed to this worthy cause.
This weekend, the majority of the U9-U16 athletes (over 80 families) are competing at Doncaster in the Eastern Region Track and Field Carnival. This is a massive weekend with events spanning both days and many athletes competing from across the Eastern Region, Go Team Ringwood.
For our U6-U8 athletes, we are running a mini carnival at Ringwood in the morning, starting at 8:15 for warm up and 8:30 start. Make sure you are on time.
For those athletes not competing at EMR T&F, have a relaxing weekend.
U6-U8 – See you at the track on Saturday from 8:15 warm up – 8:30 first event.

Clinics – Last weekend we ran two types of clinics and they seemed to be successful. If you have any feedback via email that would be great as we are planning to run more of these in future seasons and another session before the end of this season.
Saturday 18th Sunday 19th Feb
U9-U16 athletes who entered will be competing at Doncaster in the EMR T&F.
Saturday 18th U6-U8 Carnival – At Ringwood from 8:15 (warmup) – 8:30 first event.
No Training Sunday 19th Feb – We will be at EMR on Sunday, have a nice break!!
SAFETY Announcements – It has come to my attention that Age Group Managers and assistants remain inside the netting while athletes are throwing discus. For safety reasons, we do not allow anyone to be inside the throwing area or sector area, while an athlete is throwing discus. This is non-negotiable as the risk of injury to an Age Group Manager or assistant is High and painful and would be distressing for the athlete.
Fencing at start of 100m – There was a recent issue where part of the fencing detached from the area at the top of the 100m start line. Age Group Managers, please remind athletes to not lean on that fencing until the council has assessed and repaired the fencing.
Ringwood Gift 25th Feb – This is a normal competition week with the 100m gift as the feature event. Only one Boy and one Girl athlete wins a sash for the winner of the 100m event. All athletes love a good race, this is the event for that!!
Boost twilight – 10th March – This is our one and only Friday twilight. Come along for an evening of athletics under the lights and this will be our last normal competition before Centre Games.
Ringwood Centre Games 18th March 2023 8am-4pm – It will be all day – Save the date
Centre Games Championship is our last competition day. The format will remain the same as last year where athletes can select any number of events, depending on their age group. It usually runs longer than our normal competition day, so we ask that parents save the date now. Entry forms will be sent out shortly with all entry and qualifying information. Also remember its free to all eligible and financial members.
AGM and awards presentation day – Currently this is pencilled in for Saturday 1st April (not a joke) from 10am -12pm. More information to come.
Cross Country – COMING SOON!
As part of your membership, you can compete in the cross country events during the cooler months on Sunday mornings from about 9am-10.30am. This is a great way for athletes to keep fit and connected to each other in the “down time”. Team Manager needed – Our long time team manager Belinda Jones is not available this season, so we are looking for someone to manage the cross country season. Its very easy and not time consuming. Please email email@example.com. to express your interest.
