This Saturday, we have a couple of special guests attending Ringwood on their final stop as part of Coles Australia’s ‘Coles Little Athletes Big Dreams’ National campaign. Michael Angus from Athletics Australia and Australian 110m Hurdles record-holder and multiple Olympian, Kyle Vander Kuyp who competed at Ringwood Little Athletics as well as Seniors, will be attending from approximately 10:45am until approx. 11:45am. This is a great coup for our Centre as we’re one of only a handful of Centres across the country that will be part of this campaign.
Kyle Vander Kuyp will be focusing on promoting positive messaging around inclusion and equality in sport as a junior, and sharing some of his stories with the kids around what made him the successful athlete throughout his career, but also the projects he is working on after his career to ensure kids understand why it is important to be inclusive.
This will be a great opportunity for photos, however please note social distancing rules will still need to be adhered to (i.e. 1.5m apart when taking photos as they’re not being taken in the field of play).
We will organise a kids/parents queue, with marks on the ground and more information will be provided about potential pre-signed materials for Kyle to hand out rather on Saturday.
NOTE: Both athletes and parents should sanitise hands after exchanging anything with Kyle should we be able to organise something for him to hand out.
